The e-Arik (e-agriculture) project was initiated in 2007, aiming to disseminate “climate-smart agriculture practices” and also to achieve food security. Climate-smart farm practices were seen as those that were sustainable, low-input and reliant on organic technologies. The focus was on the two major crops of the project area: paddy rice (Oriza sativa) and Khasi mandarin oranges (Citrus reticulata).
