Outline:
CAMELTEC was broad-ranging in its remit, aiming to address technological, social, political and institutional issues that affected the communities it focussed on. There was a strong informational component, based mainly around radio and offering meteorological warnings, but also advice on husbandry to reduce the impact of climate variability on animal disease and death.

Such advice was provided both in preparation for cold spells or other weather events, and during those events themselves. The project also addressed factors such as markets and market pricing for alpaca wool, the organisation of the alpaca farmers, and the institutional support provided by local government and others.
